In the hills between Bertinoro and Cesena stands the home-atelier of Marcantonio, internationally renowned designer and sculptor, a place that combines private life and creativity in a unique dialogue with nature. To furnish the bathrooms of this extraordinary space, Marcantonio chose Ideal Standard, integrating elements from the Atelier Collections range and the Strada II washbasin in a project that blends functionality, poetry and artistic customisation.
A BATHROOM THAT TELLS STORIES
The bathrooms in the studio-house, six in total plus a support washbasin in the workshop, are conceived as intimate and contemplative refuges. For Marcantonio, the bathroom is a special place, a corner of solitude and reflection. Ideal Standard products, with their elegant and discreet design, fit perfectly into this vision, creating timeless spaces that breathe in harmony with the natural environment.
A distinctive example is the open-air bathroom on the terrace, inspired by Marcantonio's travels in Indonesia. Surrounded by trees and plants, this space represents an oasis of tranquillity, where Ideal Standard products fit in gracefully, enhancing the balance between man and nature.
UNIQUE AND POETIC DETAILS
In line with Marcantonio's artistic philosophy, the sanitary ware and washbasins were customised with surprising details: small beetles, green shoots emerging from the drains, and sculpted ants climbing over the washbasins. These decorative touches not only add magic and irony to the rooms, but also tell of the deep connection between man and nature.
,,Nature is a recurring theme in my life and in my designs,’ explains Marcantonio. ‘The details I have added to Ideal Standard products evoke wonder and reflection, making the everyday experience something unique.’
SUSTAINABLE ELEGANCE
The studio-house is designed to be zero-impact, in harmony with Ideal Standard's vision of sustainability. Built with natural materials and equipped with advanced energy systems, the structure reflects respect for the environment without sacrificing aesthetics. Among the stylistic details, the Brushed Gold finish of the mixers stands out, chosen to dialogue with the bronze and brass sculptures that adorn the spaces.
